چکیده
Optical networks became very important in the latest years, thanks to their high traffic capacity, because of the continuous growth of total exchanged data and the request of real-time communication. Since they have (relatively) long adaptation times, this technology is not inherently the most suitable to carry bursty traffic like the current one. Hybrid networks try to get the best from optical circuit switching and optical packet switching. This work is focused on an hybrid network architecture called 3LIHON (3-Level Integrated Hybrid Optical Network). It has three different quality of service (QoS) levels, in order to meet different requirements: • Guaranteed Service Type (GST): resembling an optical circuit switched service, it does not allow data loss. • Statistically Multiplexed Real Time (SM/RT): resembling an optical packet switched service, it ensures none or very small delay inside the network, it allows a low data loss ratio and bandwidth contention. • Statistically Multiplexed Best Effort (SM/BE): resembling an optical packet switched service with very small overall packet loss but no guaranteed delay inside the nodes. In a 3LIHON node, SM/BE traffic interrupted by packets with higher priority is dropped. This means that time and resources spent sending the SM/BE packet until the interruption are wasted. In this work we try to avoid this behaviour, by implementing and

Modeling and Performance Evaluation of Energy Consumption in S-MAC Protocol Using Generalized Stochastic Petri Nets
One of the features of wireless sensor networks is that the nodes in this network have limited power sources. Therefore, assessment of energy consumption in these networks is very important. What has been common practice has been the use of traditional simulators to evaluate the energy consumption of the nodes in these networks. Simulators often have problems such as fluctuating output values i...
متن کاملAn Improved Optimization Model for Scheduling of a Multi-Product Tree-Like Pipeline
In the petroleum supply chain, oil refined products are often delivered to distribution centers by pipelines since they provide the most reliable and economical mode of transportation over large distances. This paper addresses the optimal scheduling of a complex pipeline network with multiple branching lines. The main challenge is to find the optimal sequence and time of product injections/deli...
متن کاملA JOINT DUTY CYCLE SCHEDULING AND ENERGY AWARE ROUTING APPROACH BASED ON EVOLUTIONARY GAME FOR WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS
Network throughput and energy conservation are two conflicting important performance metrics for wireless sensor networks. Since these two objectives are in conflict with each other, it is difficult to achieve them simultaneously. In this paper, a joint duty cycle scheduling and energy aware routing approach is proposed based on evolutionary game theory which is called DREG. Making a trade-off ...
متن کاملThe Finite Horizon Economic Lot Scheduling in Flexible Flow Lines
This paper addresses the common cycle multi-product lot-scheduling problem in flexible flow lines (FFL) where the product demands are deterministic and constant over a finite planning horizon. Objective is minimizing the sum of setup costs, work-in-process and final products inventory holding costs per time unite while satisfying the demands without backlogging. This problem consists of a combi...

Grid Computing allows coordinated and controlled resource sharing and problem solving in multi-institutional, dynamic virtual organizations. Moreover, fault tolerance and task scheduling is an important issue for large scale computational grid because of its unreliable nature of grid resources. Commonly exploited techniques to realize fault tolerance is periodic Checkpointing that periodically ...
